Once upon a time I was a professional writer. I thought I wanted to be a journalist, but my career eventually took a different course instead. For a while, I used my vocation to travel to events in far-flung destinations like Leipzig, Tokyo and LA, reporting on the latest titles and trends in the games industry.
As a content-driven marketer, lots of that experience remains valuable in my job today, and much of my writing now appears in a more corporate setting instead. For marketing purposes, I’ve written long-form content pieces on a wide variety of topics. Some highlights for me have been some defining work on dual screening and on influencer marketing well before they had reached the zeitgeist, as well as detailed reports on technical topics like machine learning, phishing and GDPR.
Elsewhere, I’ve contributed to publications such as The Drum, Marketing Week, Mashable, Social Media Today, The Guardian, XBOX360, Edge magazine, Develop, Gama Sutra, IT Pro Portal, Information Age, SC Magazine, Dark Reading and Econsultancy and been featured in plenty of others – including everything from The Express to USA Today.
I’ve also made appearances on radio and TV. Examples includes BBC4, Sky News, Bloomberg and the Wall Street Journal Live.
I still write a fair amount over at Best Play too, where I ramble on about the wonderful world of board games. I also write a stream of garbage right here on my blog.
