Best Play is a passion project that I run with two friends. Founded in early 2016, the idea was to create a space that covered board games for regular people. We noticed that there were two extremes: the hardcore, intimidating end of the spectrum with serious games like D&D or Magic the Gathering, and the opposite end with family-friendly fun with the likes of Monopoly or Guess Who. The problem is that there are so many brilliant games in the middle, but so little in terms of media that featured them. That’s why we started Best Play: a site for the board game curious.
We’ve since reached more than half a million people with articles, competitions and, most famously, a series of 60-second videos that provide an overview to the games we like.
Best Play also includes an award-winning podcast, interesting video features into the history of our favourite games and regularly works with publishers to produce bespoke content. Importantly, there are no ads and no income – this is something we do for fun and we want it to be authentic. If you have a game you want reviewed or simply want to say hello, you can reach the team at games@bestplay.co
